About Scuba Mauritius
Scuba Mauritius is a subsidiary of Scuba Africa, it is one of many comprehensive websites that aim to provide the diving community with a directory of scuba sites, centres and other scuba-related information in Africa.
Mauritius is situated 2000km in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa. With over 430 marine species and 200 coral species and is home to some of the world’s most breath-taking coral reefs and marine life, many of which are endemic to the island. Mauritius has a 330km shoreline that offers an array of diving spots such as reefs, caverns, coral arches, shipwrecks that date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, and drift dives. Diving in the offshore waters provides the opportunity for sightings of sharks, pelagic fish, dolphins, and humpback whales that migrate to mate and give birth in the winter season.
Diving in Mauritius during the summer (November- March) will entail sightings of a variety of fauna such as the parrot fish, groupers, wrasses, sweetlips, angelfish, sergeant majors, trumpet and clown fish, moray eels, crayfish along with a wide variety of corals, sponges and sea anemones making it the ideal diving destination for beginners and professional.
